InterDigital Inc. (NASDAQ: IDCC) received an injunction against Disney from a German court for patent infringement, the company announced.

The Munich Regional Court ruled that InterDigital is entitled to an injunction over Disney's infringement of a patent that enables dynamically overlaying video streams, including subtitles. Disney can appeal the decision.

The German ruling follows a Brazilian court's decision to grant a preliminary injunction in InterDigital's favor in parallel litigation, where the court found Disney infringed two InterDigital patents.

"This is another illustration of how Disney uses InterDigital's innovations to stream content to consumers and to build a multi-billion-dollar global streaming business," said Josh Schmidt, Chief Legal Officer at InterDigital. "We encourage Disney to take a license that fairly values InterDigital's key innovations."

InterDigital is a research and development company focused on wireless, video and artificial intelligence technologies. The company licenses its innovations to manufacturers of wireless communications devices, consumer electronics and providers of cloud-based services including video streaming.

The information is based on a company press release.
