GT Advanced Technologies (NASDAQ: GTAT) asks court to keep some third-party related documents secret

Reuters noted that GTAT's move would allow it to avoid paying damages under a confidentiality agreement. The damages could total $50 million per violation.

GTAT also asked that the hearing be closed off to the public.

In a filing made with the U.S. bankruptcy court in New Hampshire, GTAT said, GTAT recognizes the unusual (and perhaps unprecedented) nature of the request made in this Motion.

GTAT is positive in early trading.
