Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) shares are on watch as one regulatory body in Europe doesn't see anything wrong with the company's Autopilot.
Germany's Spiegel said Thursday that it reached out to Hans Lammers, an official with Netherlands automotive regulatory authority RDW. In part, Lammers commented:
We think there is nothing wrong with the system. If it is used correctly. As regards to the function, there is no difference to systems that are approved for other manufacturers.
News comes as the NHTSA is undertaking an investigation into Tesla's Autopilot following a series of crashes reported this week. It's not clear whether RDW will launch its own investigation into the matter if the NHTSA comes up with a negative result.
Shares of Tesla are up modestly Thursday.
