Investing.com -- Airbus has completed a contract with U.S. Customs and Border Protection Air and Marine Operations for 10 H125 helicopters. The aircraft will support law enforcement, border security, and public safety operations throughout the United States.
Bart Reijnen, Head of the North America Region for Airbus Helicopters, said the purchase reflects ongoing cooperation between the two organizations. "This selection highlights the trust placed in the H125 to perform critical public safety missions under demanding conditions. Airbus remains committed to supporting the agency with reliable aircraft and comprehensive services to ensure continuous mission readiness," Reijnen stated.
The H125 model serves as a light enforcement helicopter for airborne law enforcement across North America. The aircraft can operate in extreme environments and provides versatility for multi-role homeland security tasks.
Airbus manufactures the H125 at its Columbus, Mississippi facility. The helicopter features visibility capabilities and multi-mission flexibility for patrol surveillance and tactical operations at reduced operating costs.
Standard equipment on the H125 includes a dual-channel full authority digital engine control system, engine data recorder, and dual hydraulic flight control system. These features lower pilot workload and improve operational safety during tactical flights.
The new helicopters will expand CBP AMO's operational capabilities and support the agency's fleet modernization efforts.
