Trump may visit Ireland in September for Irish Open
Investing.com -- U.S. President Donald Trump may travel to Ireland in September during the Irish Open golf tournament, according to U.S. Ambassador to Ireland Edward Walsh.
Walsh disclosed the potential visit on Thursday at an American Chamber of Commerce Ireland event in Dublin, stating that the trip would coincide with the tournament scheduled for September 10 to 13.
The Irish Open will be hosted at Trump International Golf Club in Doonbeg, a west coast resort owned by the Trump family. This marks the first time the tournament will be held at the venue, which Trump purchased in 2014.
Trump previously made an official visit to Ireland as president in 2019, when he stayed at the same Doonbeg property.
Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin is scheduled to meet Trump at the White House next month for the annual St. Patrick's Day meeting between the two countries in Washington.
