Trump discloses July trades in SpaceX
Investing.com -- President Donald Trump purchased between $15,001 and $50,000 in SpaceX shares on July 10, according to a financial disclosure he signed on September 8. The president sold between $1,001 and $15,000 in the company on July 17, the same disclosure shows.
The Office of Government Ethics posted the disclosure form on its website on Tuesday. The transactions were part of more than 1,000 trades Trump made in July.
SpaceX, owned by Elon Musk who previously advised Trump, completed the largest initial public offering in U.S. history on June 12. The offering valued the space, satellite and artificial intelligence company at $1.77 trillion.
Trump previously purchased SpaceX shares in June, according to earlier reports. White House spokesman Davis Ingle said at that time that third-party financial institutions independently manage the president's portfolio and replicate recognized indexes, such as the Schwab 1000.
The exact value of Trump's investment remains unclear because federal officials report their assets using value ranges on financial disclosure forms.
SpaceX operates as a U.S. military contractor and regularly seeks approvals from federal agencies.
