Texas halts data center permits pending grid audit

Investing.com -- Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced Monday that the state has stopped issuing permits for data centers until an audit of the Electric Reliability Council of Texas grid is completed.

Abbott instructed the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to halt permit issuance. He also directed all state agencies to pause regulatory approvals for data center development until the grid audit and water-use information are obtained.

The governor did not specify a timeline for when the audit would be completed or when permit issuance might resume.
