Snap adds event planning tools to boost real-world meetups

Investing.com - Snap Inc. (NYSE: SNAP) launched new event-planning features on Thursday that allow Snapchat users to organize gatherings with friends, send invitations and collect responses without leaving the app.

Snapchat Plans is a suite of tools designed to help friends turn conversations into real-world meet-ups, from birthday parties to study sessions, the company said in a blog post. The feature is built on data showing that about a third of young people on the app in the U.S. make plans through group chats and direct messages.

Users can create a Snapchat Plan by adding a title, choosing a date and time, inviting up to 200 friends, and personalizing their event with dynamic Bitmoji-powered cover art. Invitations are delivered directly within a one-on-one chat with each invited friend, where guests can RSVP with Going, Maybe, or Can't Go.

A new My Plans section on user profiles allows people to browse all their current, upcoming and past Snapchat Plans in one place. An Our Plans section on Friendship Profiles highlights events shared with specific friends.

Hosts can view who is attending, invite additional friends or update details as needed. Guests can view the full guest list, update their RSVP at any time and receive a reminder one hour before the event starts.
