General Dynamics wins $47.6m in Navy contract modifications

Investing.com -- General Dynamics announced Thursday that two of its divisions received contract modifications from the U.S. Navy totaling $47.6 million.

General Dynamics NASSCO – Norfolk received a $26.8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee/award fee modification to a previously awarded delivery order contract for the USS Gerald R. Ford (CVN 78) fiscal 2026 engineering and manufacturing work. The work will take place in Portsmouth, Virginia, at Norfolk Naval Shipyard, with completion expected by March 2027. The Navy will use fiscal 2024 other procurement funds for the full contract amount.

General Dynamics Mission Systems Inc. received a $20.8 million cost-plus-fixed-fee and cost-only modification to extend support for the MK 54 MOD 1 Lightweight Torpedo Program. The contract, awarded on Sept. 3, 2026, covers engineering support, hardware repair and maintenance for the torpedo program.

Work under the torpedo contract will be distributed across six locations, with Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, accounting for 62% of the work, followed by Salt Lake City, Utah, at 20% and Andover, Massachusetts, at 14%. The remaining work will be split between Bloomington, Indiana, Manassas, Virginia, and Port Orchard, Washington. The Navy obligated $18.7 million in fiscal 2025 defense-wide research, development, test and evaluation funds at the time of award. Work is expected to be completed by September 2029.
