EU voices concern over reported US diesel export ban plans

Investing.com -- The European Union expressed concern Thursday about reported United States plans to ban diesel exports, warning that such action could negatively affect both parties.

Olof Gill, a European Commission spokesperson, told reporters that high-level discussions between the EU and US administration are taking place on the matter.

"We expect close partners to consult each other before taking measures that affect shared markets," Gill said.

Politico reported that the US was preparing a 90-day ban on diesel exports due to rising prices before the midterm elections. US Energy Secretary Chris Wright has disputed the report.

Gill said any disruption in diesel would risk negative effects on both sides of the Atlantic.
