Converse undergoing job cuts amid strategic changes

February 9, 2026 1:43 PM UTC

Investing.com -- Converse employees have been instructed to work from home this week as the Nike Inc.-owned brand implements strategic changes aimed at recapturing sales growth, according to Bloomberg report Monday.

The memo from Converse CEO Aaron Cain outlined that the changes will include new roles and team moves for some staff members. Cain also noted that the company "had to make difficult decisions" which will involve "saying goodbye to friends and teammates."

This follows earlier workforce reductions at parent company Nike, which laid off hundreds of employees at distribution centers earlier in 2026 and less than 1% of its corporate staff during a restructuring initiative last year.

While other segments of Nike's business have shown improvement under CEO Elliott Hill, Converse has struggled to keep pace. The brand reported a steep 30% drop in sales during the most recent quarter.
