China calls on US to stop AI sanctions

Investing.com -- China's commerce ministry called on the United States to stop what it described as smearing campaigns and sanction threats against Chinese artificial intelligence companies, according to a statement released on Monday.

The ministry said it will take necessary measures against U.S. actions that harm China's interests.

"Many U.S. AI companies have distilled Chinese models during research, development, and training," the Chinese ministry said in its statement.

The commerce ministry added it "will take all necessary measures against any actions that substantially harm China's interests" in response to a planned U.S. probe into Chinese AI firms
