Anthropic launches Enterprise Frontier Safeguards for Claude
Investing.com -- Anthropic announced Tuesday the launch of Enterprise Frontier Safeguards, a system that combines zero data retention privacy with safeguards designed to detect misuse of its Claude AI models.
The new solution allows customers to store data in their own cloud infrastructure rather than on Anthropic's systems. The company said it will roll out the feature to customers in phases starting later this fall.
Anthropic developed the system with more than 100 customers across financial services, healthcare, manufacturing, telecom, law, retail, and the public sector. The company also worked with cloud partners Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure.
The system will be available on Claude Code, Claude Enterprise, the Claude Platform, Amazon Bedrock, Claude Platform on AWS, Google's Agent Platform, and Microsoft Foundry.
Anthropic said eligible customers will receive zero data retention on Fable 5 and Fable 5.1 until Enterprise Frontier Safeguards becomes available.
The company introduced 30-day data retention with Fable 5 to address what it described as attempted misuse of AI models, ranging from fraud to cyberattacks. Anthropic said it has never trained on enterprise data without permission.
The company worked with the Analysis and Resilience Center for Systemic Risk, whose members include chief information security officers from Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citi, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo. Anthropic also consulted with leaders at Comcast, KPMG, Mastercard, Salesforce, and Visa.
Under the new system, customers control data storage and management in their own cloud accounts, such as Amazon S3, Azure Blob Storage, or Google Cloud Storage. Automated systems analyze traffic for signs of misuse, including attempts to develop offensive cyber or biological capabilities and indications of stolen credentials.
When monitoring detects patterns requiring attention, signals are sent directly to customers for review. Anthropic said no human review by its employees is required.
Customer-owned storage, Customer-Managed Encryption Keys, and automated review are each opt-in features. Anthropic said these features do not change model behavior, API pricing, or rate limits.
The company does not charge for Enterprise Frontier Safeguards. Customers who store data in their cloud accounts are billed by their cloud provider for storage and related fees.
