Anthropic in talks for second multibillion-dollar Nscale deal - CNBC
Investing.com -- Anthropic is in discussions with U.K. company Nscale for a second multibillion-dollar agreement to lease computing capacity at a U.S. location, CNBC said Tuesday, citing a person familiar with the matter.
The deal would reportedly cover a second 460-megawatt data center at the same West Virginia site as an initial agreement announced in August. It could be valued at approximately $45 billion, the report added.
Nvidia-backed Nscale builds or leases data centers and sells computing capacity to hyperscalers and AI labs.
Competitors CoreWeave and Nebius saw their shares decline 28% and 27%, respectively, over the past month.
On Sunday, U.K. newspaper The Telegraph reported that Microsoft withdrew from a deal to anchor an Nscale data center outside London due to delays connecting to the country's power grid.
Nscale filed to go public on the New York Stock Exchange in September but is said to be pushing back the plans amid valuation concerns in the sector.
