ASML NV ADR shares dropped 4.7% during morning trading Friday, reaching a session low of $1,577.30, as technology stocks tied to artificial intelligence declined.
The drop followed disappointing news from Intel and Amazon. Intel issued a weak fourth-quarter revenue forecast, causing its shares to fall. Amazon disclosed AI-related cash spending exceeding $42 billion over the trailing twelve months, raising concerns about returns on capital investments in AI infrastructure.
ASML supplies chipmaking equipment to Intel and other semiconductor manufacturers. The company's stock had risen substantially from its 52-week low of $946.11.
