Tesla (TSLA) Purges Reservations Breaking Model 3s Two-Per-Customer Pre-Order Limit

Tesla (Nasdaq: TSLA) recently reported that Model 3 reservations had topped the 400,000 unit mark. But, how many of those reservations broke the two-reservation-per-customer limit?

One blogger reported last Friday that he made 20 reservations for the Model 3, as there were no checks in place from Tesla which would limit the number of pre-orders allowed. The blogger also questioned how many others were speculating on the Model 3 and placing more than two reservations.

However, Tesla CEO Elon Musk posted to Twitter that those breaking the two pre-order limit would be cancelled. Musk said that only around 5 percent of the total pre-orders were for more than two Model 3s, and that a scan revealed only 0.2 percent of orders with the same email and physical address. Those orders were purged, Musk noted.

Shares of Tesla are up modestly in early trading Monday.
