Tesla (TSLA) Model X Reservations Said to Nearly Reach 32,000 Units

September 10, 2015 3:38 PM EDT

Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) is slated to release its Model X at the end of September and reservations are continuing to pile up.

According to the latest data from the Tesla Motors Club (TMC), total reservations for the Model X SUV have surpassed 31,000 units. The numbers are unofficial, but that would still be rather high given that no one really knows what the final product will look like.

Numbers might also be skewed given that reservations in China were recently updated for the first time since November 2014. For example, the average daily number of orders recently rose from 24 per day up to 37.2 per day.

So, total Model X reservations are at 31,195 units, excluding cancellations. With estimated cancellations at 4,303 units, the number comes down to 26,892 units.

(NOTE: Our last update from TMC pegged Model X reservations at just over 30,000 units.)

If you're feeling ambitious, there's also a newly established website called ModelXTracker.com, which you'll need to enter a valid email address to access.

Shares of Tesla are down 0.4 percent late Thursday.
