Tesla (TSLA) CEO Musk Refutes Allegations of Thievery

Tesla Motors (Nasdaq: TSLA) CEO Elon Musk got a little salty towards on publication following a minor accusation.

Musk posted the following to Twitter:

Notably, the Benzinga piece references to an article written on January 14th and had been passed around forums for a bit since then. The article (from today) also managed to procure a strikingly similar quote sent to Electrek.co on Tuesday, which read: Unfortunately, due to human error, a car from our test fleet was offered for sale. We apologize that this led to a frustrating experience. We are working to ensure that it never happens again.

Why Musk took the time to response to such a nonsensical, egregious report is anyone's guess.

While Tesla might want to get its customer service ducks in a row, we find it hard to believe that Musk would purposefully take an auto specifically designed for customers to purchase. The mix-up might simply be due to Tesla working overtime to meet its demand; even Musk himself is probably not able to grab a vehicle off the line for testing given that it would be already spoken for at that point.

Shares of Tesla are down 5 percent.
