Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX) offerings are about to get a little more expensive.
The NY Post noted Friday that Starbucks will raise the price on some of its drinks by 5 to 20 cents starting next week, while its packaged coffee prices are expected to see a $1 price hike (but, not at cafe locations).
Price action might not be tied to recent coffee bean price movement as Starbucks has locked in prices for the rest of this fiscal year and well into the next one.
One spokesperson for Starbucks said a lot goes into pricing decisions, including competitive dynamics and the company's cost structure.
Price increases will vary by region.
Shares of Starbucks are down 0.9 percent Friday.
