Real Estate ETFs Higher On Positive Industry Data Points
Real estate ETFs are having a strong session today on the back of a report that apartment rents rose during the first quarter after five straight quarters of declines. This news coincides with other anecdotal evidence that the residential and commercial real estate sector is stabilizing, and in some cases improving.
The most activity traded real estate ETF iShares Trust (NYSE: IYR) is up 1.9% today, iShares Cohen & Steers Realty Majors (NYSE: ICF) is up 2.1%.
The leveraged sector ETFs are also trading activity today - Ultra Real Estate ProShares (NYSE: URE) is up 4%, while UltraShort Real Estate ProShares (NYSE: SRS) is down 4%.
