Nearly Half of Twitter (TWTR) Users Largely Remain Quiet

Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) has about 974 million user accounts, though a solid chunk of those accounts are mostly inactive.
The WSJ said Monday that about 44 percent of Twitter's user base has never posted to the social media site. Data comes from Twopcharts.
Twitter said it had about 241 million monthly active users through the last three months of 2013. The company defines an active user s one that logs on within a given month.
While users can still have a great experience by just reading the site, more activity is beneficial for Twitter. Activities like favoriting posts, retweeting messages, and posting in general all add to Twitter's ability to drive revenue.
About 30 percent of existing Twitter accounts have sent between 1 and 10 tweets and just 13 percent have posted over 100 tweets.
