Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) could be making the right moves to gain more global tablet PC market share.
Digitimes noted today that lowered licensing rate for Windows 8 is causing more vendors to develop tablets for the second-half of 2013. Accordingly, shipments are expected to reach 5 percent to 8 percent of global volume, roughly 10 million to 20 million units.
Given higher demand in the third- and fourth-quarters of a year, Taiwan manufacturers see shipments up 50 percent in those two periods.
Notably, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is still expected to see shipment growth to the tune of 80 million to 100 million tablets in 2013 amid losing overall market share.
Microsoft shares are lower on the session.
