Microsoft (MSFT) to Offer 'Right-to-be-Forgotten' for Bing Search (GOOG)

Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is joining Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) in allowing users to have the 'right-to-be-forgotten' with Bing search.

According to a statement released by Microsoft on Wednesday, Developing an appropriate system is taking us some time ... We expect to launch a form through which users can make requests soon.

Google offered users in Europe a form which would allow removal of links that a user felt invaded their privacy. The move came following a mid-May ruling by the European Court of Justice.

Sine implementing the form, Google has received 70,000 requests for unlinking material.

The ruling spreads to just beyond Google, including Bing, Ask.com (Nasdaq: IACI), and Aol (NYSE: AOL).

Microsoft's form is expected to be similar to Google's, which requires users to submit links desired for removal, reasoning, and photo identification.

Shares of Microsoft are down 0.5 percent.
