Kellogg (K) 'Shocked', 'Outraged' After Graphic Video Surfaces

Kellogg (NYSE: K) said an investigation is underway after a "graphic" video surfaced showing a man urinating on a Kellogg factory assembly line. Kellogg's CEO called the man's actions "disgusting" and "unthinkable," and a spokesman said the company was "outraged" and plans to prosecute to the full extent of the law.

"Kellogg takes this situation very seriously and we were shocked and deeply disappointed by this video that we just learned of Friday, March 11. We immediately alerted law enforcement authorities and regulators. A criminal investigation is underway as well as a thorough internal investigation," said Kris Charles, Kellogg Company spokesperson.

An investigation revealed that the video was recorded at Kellogg's Memphis, TN facility, in 2014.

"It is important to note that any products that could have been potentially impacted would be very limited and past their expiration dates. These potentially impacted products include Rice Krispies Treats, granola clusters used in a couple of products, and a few other puffed rice treats that we no longer make,” said Charles.

He added, "Food quality is of the utmost importance to Kellogg Company. We are outraged by this completely unacceptable situation, and we will work closely with authorities to prosecute to the full extent of the law."

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Office of Criminal Investigation is conducting the criminal investigation.

Shares of Kellogg are down 0.75 percent.
