HTC Pushes for Liquidmetal (LQMT) Technology in Upcoming Smartphone (AAPL)
Could Liquidmetal (OTCBB: LQMT) get back to the $0.55 - $0.60 range sometime soon? Possibly, as word on the Street today is that High Tech Computer (HTC) might tap the company's technology for use in an upcoming device.
Digitimes said today that HTC is trying to use Liquidmetal's technology ahead of new products out of Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL).
Unfortunately for HTC, Apple and Liquidmetal signed a 2-year contract intellectual property contract recently. Apple also has contracts with metal chassis makers like Catcher Technology, Foxconn Technology, and Casetek, Digitimes said.
HTC is partnering with Jabon International and brought over an R&D team from Japan to help them produce a new device which could incorporate a full-metal chassis.
Shares of Liquidmetal are up about 2 percent Tuesday.
