Many web surfers are enjoying an ad free day today, although some of the world's most popular websites won't load. The cause is a problem at Google's (NASDAQ: GOOG) ad server platform DoubleClick, used by thousands upon thousands of websites.
Google said it is looking at the problem although it remains a widespread issue. "Our engineers are already on this and will be providing an update ASAP," Google said.
Many websites, including StreetInsider.com, are running ad free until the problem is worked out. CNBC.com, BusinessInsider, Forbes, FT.com and others have been impacted.
