Google (GOOG) Submits Final Concessions to Settle Two-Year EU Probe

Google (Nasdaq; GOOG) may be able to skirt a fine over anticompetitive allegations in Europe following submission of new concessions to European Union (EU) regulators.
Reports out Thursday have Google entering another sent of proposals following a prior submission in January to settle antitrust allegations, which arose from complaints out of close competitors.
"We are now preparing the launch of a market test to seek feedback from market players, including complainants, on these commitment proposals," commented European Commission (EC) spokesperson Antoine Colombani.
Concessions might include fewer restriction on advertisers as well as Google labeling its own search results versus those from competitors, Reuters said this morning.
Latest data out of comScore has Google controlling about 80 percent of the Internet search market in Europe.
An investigation into Google's activities began November 2010.
Shares are down 0.5 percent Thursday.
