Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) Chromebooks might start getting a little more expensive.
According to Digitimes, Google is mulling the possibility of cancelling Chromebook development and marketing subsidies due to surging sales.
Sales of the low-cost Chromebook have been solid in the U.S. and there has been strong adoption in the educational community. Shipments in 2014 are expected to reach four to five million units, sources told Digitimes.
While some notebook vendors are looking to offer Chromebook, others might discouraged should elimination of subsidies take hold.
Shares of Google are up 1.3 percent.
