According to reports from Bloomberg, General Motors (NYSE: GM), in its latest attempt to stimulate sales, is offering U.S. car dealers a cash incentive of 1% for each 2009 vehicle they sell.
The new program is expected to run until the end of the year.
The offer follows the auto industry's 27% decline in September sales, the worse since 1991. GM's sales were down 16% in September and 18% for the year.
