Facebook (FB) Eyes Top Internet TV Exec to Expand Offerings

July 10, 2012 7:27 AM EDT
According to the NY Post on Tuesday, Facebook (Nasdaq: FB) might be courting Hulu's Jason Kilar for a top-spot among the social media giant's ranks. The Post says that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg 'likes' Kilar, a well-respected Internet exec with strong industry ties.

The move might signal Facebook's large ambitions to compete on a media consumption level via streaming movies, TV shows, and other content. Kilar, who has been with Hulu for a few years and also work at Amazon.com (Nasdaq: AMZN) for a time, would be an ideal candidate as Facebook looked to move strongly into instant TV.

No comment was made by either party on the rumor.

Kilar was rumored to be in top contention for the CEO role at Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO), though he declined to be considered for the position just days later.

Facebook shares are flat in early trading, while Yahoo! is indicated lower.
