Cameron (CAM) Dismissed from Years-Long BP (BP) Gulf Oil Spill Case

April 3, 2013 3:24 PM EDT
Cameron International (NYSE: CAM) will be eviscerated from the BP plc (NYSE: BP) Gulf of Mexico oil spill case.

The AP reports today that U.S. District Judge Carl Barbier dismiss remaining claims against the oil & gas equipment giant. Cameron provided a blowout preventor for the Deepwater Horizon, a key safety device for deepwater exploration of oil and gas. The Deepwater Horizon exploded in early 2010, tragically killing 11 workers in the process.

Barbier said he didn't have any evidence to support claims of negligence on Cameron's part.

Remaining defendants in the case include BP, Transocean (NYSE: RIG), and Halliburton (NYSE: HAL).

Shares of Cameron pared an earlier pop, now down 4 percent Wednesday.
