Cabela's (NYSE: CAB) is filing a lawsuit against Dicks Sporting Goods (NYSE: DKS), claiming patent infringement over the design of a top-selling hunting vest.
According to reports out Friday, Cabela's says Dick's Field & Stream Premium Turkey Hunting Vest is in violation of a patent covering garments with deployable seat technology.
In the suite, Cabela's claims that the Dick's vest has caused lost benefit of "significant and expensive" advertising for its "Speed Seat" line of products.
The patent covers technology which allows hunters to deploy a portable seat without taking off the garment.
Cabela's ended the session higher Friday, while Dick's was 0.5 percent lower.
