Reporters have received a formal invitation to Apple's (Nasdaq: AAPL) next event.

First, the event will be an "education event," so we're going to call it a "genius gala."

Next, it is said that the genius gala will focus on Apple's textbook initiative, or "iBooks" initiative, as some have put it.

Finally, the event in January 19th, 2012, in the Guggenheim Museum. January 19th is otherwise known as 5 days before Apple's planned quarterly report (January 24th!).

It's said that Steve Jobs was working on something having to do with education months before his death. Walter Isaacson published such in his Jobs biography. AllThingsD said a Fox reporter is under the same impression.

So far, it's believed that none of the major publishers are working with iBooks or Apple's iOS system, at least not publicly. Conversations between Apple and publishers have been off-and-on for years, according to AllThingsD.

Ahead of Apple's genius gala, shares are down about 0.4 percent.
