Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) has long been rumored to be introducing an Apple tablet in the near future and with that rumor in mind, Apple has rehired Michael Tchao, one of the original developers of Apple’s groundbreaking but failed Newton personal digital assistant.
Tchao rejoined Apple yesterday as VP of product marketing, according to the NY Times and an Apple spokesperson. Tchao will report to Phil Schiller, a senior vice president.
The NY Times said that at this time it is not known what his new duties will be at Apple, but identifying a market for the much-rumored Apple tablet could be among them.
