Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is looking to expand the editorial content on its iTunes platform as the company plans a relaunch of the service later this year.
Music Ally pointed out the job ad on Apple's website for Editorial Producer. In part, the ad reads, This full-time position is split between editorial and producing duties. The editorial duties focus on writing, editing, managing a sea of freelancers, and working collaboratively with business and content heads to shape and define editorially driven merchandising promotions. As far as producing, this role will also focus on special projects and promotions, making sure all parties understand the timelines and deliverables associated with getting these pages live, and making sure we execute flawlessly and on time.
The job means Apple is moving to add broader content to iTunes as it integrates Beats Music. More content might lead to better sales down the line as consumers go to iTunes for more than just their favorite songs; they'll eventually be able to get industry information and updates on the same platform.
