Another Apple (AAPL) ODM Said to See Slimmer iPhone 5c Orders

Following up from reports earlier in the week, Apple (Nasdaq: AAPL) is shifting some of its handset orders to the more lucrative, more popular line.

According to Digitimes, Apple has trimmed iPhone 5c orders to Pegatron by 50 percent and has asked the manufacturer to return some of its production equipment. The manufacturer was said to have received about 70 percent of Apples iPhone 5c production orders for 2014, with Hon Hai Precision (Foxconn) getting the balance.

On Monday, it was reported that Foxconn would also be refocusing to more iPhone 5s production, given heightened demand for the product heading into the 2013 holiday shopping season.

Both Foxconn and Pegatron have refuted the rumors.

Regardless of whether Apple is selling more iPhone 5s or iPhone 5c models, the profitability will still be there. The lower-cost iPhone 5c is only about $100 less than the iPhone 5s, on average.

Shares of Apple are about flat Wednesday morning.
