A Struggling RIM (RIMM) to Slash PlayBook Prices in Canada
In an effort to spur sales, Research In Motion Limited (Nasdaq: RIMM) has given the go-ahead for a price reduction on its PlayBook tablet PC in Canada.
According to sources Friday morning, Staples (Nasdaq: SPLS) Canada stores will begin selling the 16-, 32-, and 64-GB versions of RIM's PlayBook for $199, $299, and $399, respectively.
Despite the dramatic drop, the sale is only expected to run through December 1st, sources have said.
Though the sale is initially expected in Canada, lower prices might creep in the U.S. as well, with demand for the PlayBook still lackluster at best.
