Anthropic targets mid-November for public debut - report

Investing.com -- Anthropic PBC plans to go public as soon as mid-November after delaying its initial listing timeline, Bloomberg reported on Thursday citing people familiar with the matter.

The artificial intelligence company behind Claude could begin formal marketing for its IPO during the week of Nov. 9, positioning the firm to start trading before Thanksgiving on Nov. 26, the report said. The AI developer previously planned to file publicly for an IPO after the summer.

Anthropic reportedly still expects to complete its market debut no later than the end of the year. Deliberations remain ongoing and the timeline could shift.

The company faces increased competition from OpenAI, which has gained sales momentum in recent months. Both companies are under public scrutiny over AI safety following multiple high-profile hacking incidents by rogue agents, raising concerns about the potential impact on Anthropic's market debut.

CEO Dario Amodei published an essay on his personal website stating that the speed at which new AI models are advancing must be slowed down. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has postponed his company's IPO plans, stating it would be ill-advised to go public now.

Prospective investors reportedly see a fair valuation for Anthropic in the $1.8 trillion to $2 trillion range. The company expects to match or exceed the size of SpaceX's IPO.

Anthropic reported a net loss of almost $42 billion in 2025, roughly five times higher than about $8.3 billion the year before. The company's full-year revenue was roughly $4.6 billion for 2025, up from $386 million in the prior year, though its operating loss expanded to more than $8 billion.
