Wolfe survey shows modest optimism amid macro concerns
Investing.com -- A Wolfe survey of more than 200 industry contacts in August shows a slight increase in optimism about economic performance over the next two months compared to current conditions, but concerns about macro volatility, gas prices, upcoming elections and increased promotions in the second half of the year remain.
The survey was conducted over the last several days and has not reached pre-war levels yet.
As tariff refunds start to be returned to companies, Wolfe is hearing increased concerns about promotional activity picking up for Back to School and Holiday 2026.
The survey also shows more dispersion between categories and brands throughout Wolfe's coverage as the performance between convenience stores and grocers widens. Burger King is extending its momentum compared to WEN and MCD.
