Robinhood stock rises as analysts applaud AI agents, trading tools

Investing.com -- Robinhood Markets Inc. shares moved higher Wednesday after the online brokerage unveiled an ambitious expansion into artificial-intelligence trading agents, crypto perpetual futures, and around-the-clock stock trading, drawing praise from Wall Street analysts who view the new features as key drivers of customer engagement.

The stock rose 2.5% following the company’s third annual HOOD Summit, where executives demonstrated tools aimed at moving Robinhood beyond its beginner-app roots to capture a larger share of sophisticated, active traders.

Wall Street analysts pointed to the rapid execution of Robinhood’s product roadmap as validation for a broader bullish thesis on the company’s long-term growth.

"HOOD delivered the two key products we were watching, Agents and U.S. perps, while broader active-trader enhancements add more ways for customers to trade," wrote Morgan Stanley analyst Michael Cyprys in a research note. Reiterating an Overweight rating and a $150 price target, Mr. Cyprys added that the announcements "reinforce our recent upgrade thesis that HOOD’s expanding platform can drive more assets/customer, more activity/customer and greater monetization of that activity."

Betting on AI Automation

At the center of Robinhood’s announcement was Robinhood Agents, an AI-powered tool integrated directly into the app that enables customers to analyze market trends, construct strategies, and execute trades autonomously. Robinhood said over 150,000 customers have opened agentic trading accounts since an initial preview in May, with agents now making nearly 30 million daily tool queries.

To support the ecosystem, the company introduced Agent Apps, an in-app marketplace offering premium research and analytics from 11 third-party providers, including Nasdaq, Unusual Whales, and SpotGamma. The tools will carry monthly subscription fees between $5 and $30 following a one-month trial.

Derivatives and 24/7 Trading

Robinhood also targeted advanced traders with new derivative products and expanded trading windows:

  • Perpetual Futures: Pending final rollouts in the coming months, eligible U.S. users will gain access to crypto perpetual contracts—a popular derivative in overseas markets—offering up to 10x leverage on Bitcoin and Ether, alongside positions in tokens such as Solana and Ripple. Robinhood set a promotional transaction fee of 0.01% through the end of the year.

  • Around-the-Clock Equities: Building on its 24-Hour Market introduced in 2023, Robinhood plans to expand stock trading to weekends for select equities, subject to regulatory approval. Extended options trading hours are scheduled to launch in October.

  • Advanced Order Types and Margin: The brokerage is rolling out 4x intraday margin for qualified accounts next month, one-cancels-the-other (OCO) equity orders, and Cboe-backed binary options contracts linked to corporate earnings metrics ahead of the third-quarter earnings season.

Wall Street Outlook

While Morgan Stanley noted that Robinhood did not offer updates on U.S. tokenization or on-chain initiatives, analysts emphasized that the overall active-trader package exceeded expectations. By reducing friction for complex strategies and widening the hours in which capital can move, analysts expect Robinhood to continue taking market share from traditional retail brokerages.

The announcements demonstrate "strong product velocity," Mr. Cyprys wrote, noting that expanding when and how customers trade should support sustained engagement across Robinhood’s account base.
