ABC News reports that convicted Ponzi schemer Bernie Madoff may have been assaulted in prison.
Bernie Madoff was admitted to Duke University Hospital last Friday with serious injuries consistent with an assault, ABC said.
Sources told an ABC affiliate in Raleigh Durham, North Carolina, that the convicted Madoff had facial fractures, broken ribs and a collapsed lung and was discharged from Duke two days ago. Officials at the Butner federal prison would not confirm the report.
