IonQ expands quantum security platform via $1.3B acquisition of Elisity

Investing.com -- IONQ Inc (NYSE: IONQ) has agreed to acquire Zero Trust cybersecurity provider Elisity Inc. in an all-stock deal valued at up to $1.3 billion, expanding the quantum computing company’s enterprise security footprint ahead of post-quantum cryptographic transitions. The transaction includes up to $150 million in performance-based earnouts, with closing expected in the fourth quarter of 2026 subject to regulatory approval.

The deal pairs IonQ’s post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum key distribution (QKD) hardware technologies with Elisity’s software-defined Zero Trust architecture and IdentityGraph microsegmentation platform. Against the backdrop of recent White House directives mandating federal migration to quantum-resistant encryption, the combined offering aims to protect enterprise and government infrastructure from both immediate machine-speed network threats and future quantum decryption risks.

Elisity brings more than 100 enterprise deployments, a history of doubling annual revenues with zero customer churn, and established access to a microsegmentation market estimated at over $10 billion. IonQ expects the acquisition to unlock cross-selling opportunities across its customer base, where multiproduct revenue expanded 40% year-over-year in the second quarter of 2026.

Following the close, Elisity will operate under IonQ while retaining its core leadership team, led by Chief Executive Officer James Winebrenner. Stock in IonQ fell around 2% in premarket trade Monday following the announcement.
