ECB Eyes Inflation

June 28, 2011 8:15 AM EDT
Speaking with other bankers in Amsterdam early Tuesday, ECB President Jean-Claude Trichet said the Bank is in so-called "strong vigilance mode." The comment could suggest the ECB will continue raising interest rates at next week's policy meeting.

Trichet said "We are united on the goal of solidly anchoring inflation expectations."

The ECB lifted its benchmark interest rate from 1 percent to 1.25 percent in early April.
