Cal-Maine Foods (CALM) Shares Down 8% on Q2 Miss

Cal-Maine Foods (NASDAQ: CALM) shares were trading more than 8% lower after-hours following the egg producer Q2 results, with EPS coming in at $0.02, missing the consensus estimate of $0.28. Quarterly revenue grew 12.5% year-over-year to $390.9 million, above the consensus estimate of $387.77 million.

According to Dolph Baker, the Chairman and CEO of the company, higher Q2 revenue was driven by improved shell egg pricing, with the net average selling price for all eggs growing 11.9% year-over-year to $1.373 per dozen.
