Equities Lower in Europe, Yields on German Bonds at All Time Lows
Markets in Europe are lower this morning, as leaders are set to meet in Brussels. Pressure is building on European leaders to finally come up with a solution to the crisis, and markets want an answer, although they are unlikely to get it.
In another sign of the snowballing levels of fear in the region, yields on German 2-year bonds dropped to 0.07 percent, the lowest on record. Rumors overnight said that Germans might issue bonds with negative yields, but these rumors have been denied by German officials.
The FTSE 100 is down 1.88 percent, the DAX is down 1.8 percent, and the CAC is down over 2 percent in early trading in NY on Wednesday.
