Coinbase Acquires FairX to Offer Crypto Derivatives to its US Customers

Coinbase Global, Inc. (NASDAQ: COIN) made an announcement today, according to which it is acquiring FairX, a CFTC-regulated derivatives exchange.
Coinbase is planning to bring regulated crypto derivatives to market, offering them to all Coinbase customers in the US over time by leveraging FairX’s infrastructure.
The acquisition, which is expected to close in Coinbase’s Q1 and is subject to customary closing conditions and reviews, is an important milestone on the company’s path to offer crypto derivatives to its customers in the US.
