Zentek Ltd. (NASDAQ: ZTEK announced that its subsidiary Albany Graphite Corp. completed additional material characterization tests confirming nuclear specifications for ultra-high purity Albany graphite. The tests were conducted in collaboration with American Energy Technologies Company under a Critical Minerals Innovation Fund grant.
The Albany graphite achieved 99.9992% carbon purity and an Equivalent Boron Concentration of 2.60 ppm, below the 3 ppm nuclear industry requirement. The material met specifications across multiple parameters including particle size distribution, compressibility, electrical resistivity, and coefficient of friction.
Key test results showed the graphite achieved 100% air jet sub-sieve analyzer yield, exceeding the 85% threshold required for nuclear applications. The material demonstrated high compact density with low elastic expansion, properties considered essential for nuclear reactor matrix graphite components.
The four-point resistivity test indicated low electrical resistance at 0.428 Ω inches, within the acceptable range of 0.15-0.68 Ω inches, suggesting high graphitization levels needed for pebble-bed reactor applications.
Emily Schmidt from American Energy Technologies stated that purified Albany graphite meets industry specifications including the 32-micron air jet sub-sieve analyzer yield requirement for matrix graphite nuclear applications.
The final testing phase will involve producing test graphite bricks using synthetic graphite, ultra-high purity Albany graphite, and coal-tar pitch to confirm composite material specifications for nuclear reactor lining applications.
The Albany Graphite Project is located in Ontario, approximately 30 kilometers from the Trans-Canada Highway near established infrastructure including roads, rail, and power transmission lines.
