Wrap Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ: WRAP) opened a new manufacturing facility in Norton, Virginia, designed to produce up to 23,000 BolaWrap 150 devices and more than 150,000 cassettes per month.
The $4.1 million facility is projected to create 126 jobs across manufacturing, engineering, logistics and training roles in southwestern Virginia. The State of Virginia supported the project through multiple economic development agencies and authorities.
The 20,000-square-foot facility includes production lines, research and development labs, and training rooms. The company stated the site has expansion capacity to double or triple output as demand grows, with potential to expand to 40,000 or 60,000 square feet in future phases.
"Relocating our manufacturing headquarters to Norton, Virginia, represents a strategic investment in Wrap's future," said Jared Novick, President and Chief Operating Officer of Wrap Technologies.
The facility will manufacture the company's BolaWrap restraint devices, WrapVision body-worn cameras, and WrapReality virtual reality training systems. The company intends to assemble its patent-pending 1KC kinetic anti-drone cassette at the location, extending the BolaWrap platform into counter-unmanned aerial systems.
Wrap Technologies develops non-lethal public safety tools and has partnerships with more than 40 agencies across Virginia, including the Virginia Department of Corrections and Richmond Police Department. The company states its BolaWrap device is used by over 1,000 agencies across the United States and in 60 countries.
Ron Colaizzi, Wrap's Director of Operations and Facilities, said the Norton facility was designed for efficient production and demonstrates the company's preparation to scale operations.
