WISeSat.Space outlines post-quantum satellite security strategy
WISeSat.Space Holdings Corp. (NASDAQ: SAIQ) has outlined a strategy to integrate post-quantum cryptography into its satellite communications and Internet of Things architecture, citing alignment with U.S. Executive Order 14412, which directs federal systems to migrate to NIST-approved post-quantum cryptography standards.
The company said it completed a business combination and Nasdaq listing in October 2026 and closed a $10 million private investment in public equity led by its sister company, SEALSQ Corp. (NASDAQ: LAES), to fund development of what it calls a quantum-resilient space architecture.
WISeSat.Space's current infrastructure includes access to nine active low-earth-orbit satellites and ground stations in Lausanne, Switzerland, and La Línea de la Concepción, Spain. The company's long-term roadmap targets a 100-satellite constellation by 2033, subject to financing, regulatory approvals, and launch availability.
The security architecture draws on SEALSQ's QS7001 and QVault TPM semiconductor platforms, which support NIST-standardized algorithms ML-KEM (FIPS 203) and ML-DSA (FIPS 204), used for key encapsulation and digital signatures, respectively.
Intended applications include government and sovereign communications, critical infrastructure monitoring, satellite command authentication, remote industrial IoT connectivity, and protection against "harvest now, decrypt later" attacks, in which encrypted data collected today could be decrypted using future quantum computers.
Executive Order 14412, issued June 22, 2026, sets migration deadlines of December 31, 2030, for post-quantum key establishment and December 31, 2031, for post-quantum digital signatures for federal high-value and high-impact systems, excluding National Security Systems.
Carlos Moreira, Founder and CEO of WISeSat.Space, said in the statement: "Security is a core differentiator in our strategy to build a satellite communications business serving governments, enterprises and critical infrastructure operators."
The company noted that not every satellite currently accessible through its network carries post-quantum hardware, and that regulatory compliance will be assessed individually for each implementation.
