Symbotic Inc. (NASDAQ: SYM) announced the acquisition of ARMS Innovations Ltd., a UK-based software company that develops real-time operational intelligence solutions for automated warehouse environments. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
ARMS Innovations specializes in software that coordinates people, robotics, and workflows within complex warehouse settings. The technology uses AI to match tasks with resources based on skills, availability, and operational needs, and includes capabilities for diagnosing issues, assigning personnel, ordering parts, and managing resolutions in real time.
Symbotic said the acquisition is intended to extend its platform beyond warehouse automation into what it describes as "Warehouse Operations Optimization," a category it positions as broader in scope than traditional warehouse management systems or warehouse execution systems.
"By combining Symbotic's automation leadership with ARMS's proven operational intelligence software, we are taking a major step forward in our vision of delivering a fully integrated, intelligent supply chain platform," said Rick Cohen, Chairman and CEO of Symbotic.
Walt Odisho, Chief Manufacturing & Supply Chain Officer at Symbotic, said the company plans to scale ARMS's capabilities for customers worldwide. "ARMS was built to solve the realities of complex automated warehouse environments, with a focus on driving continuous improvement in customers' operations while reducing costs," Odisho said.
Symbotic said the combined solution is expected to provide end-to-end visibility across warehouse operations, including predictive maintenance and real-time disruption identification, serving environments such as micro-fulfillment centers and e-commerce distribution facilities.
